The AI Global South Summit Declaration calls upon all voices within the Global South - the global majority, and all attendees, presenters and otherwise to commit to a unified vision where AI and emerging technologies are harnessed for the betterment and empowerment of our communities. Together, we, the participants of the 2024 AI Global South Summit, declare our dedication to:

1. Championing Responsible AI Development – Advocating for frameworks that ensure AI technologies are safe, ethical, and inclusive, especially in addressing challenges unique to the Global South.

2. Empowering Communities – Utilizing AI as a tool for social equity, economic development, and cultural preservation across the diverse landscapes of the Global South.

3. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing – Building a network of mutual support, where research, resources, and advancements are accessible to all, and voices from every corner of the Global South are heard and valued.

4. Advocating Policy and Governance – Engaging with leaders and policymakers to create structures that safeguard the autonomy and digital sovereignty of the Global South in the AI ecosystem.

5. Environmental and Cultural Stewardship – Recognizing and protecting the environmental and cultural richness of our lands by ensuring AI-driven initiatives are sustainable, respect biodiversity, and celebrate our shared heritage.

6. Preservation of Cultures and Traditions – Committing to the preservation and promotion of our unique cultural identities, languages, and traditions by ensuring that AI technologies respect, represent, and uplift the diverse cultural heritage of the Global South.
