Leonne Theodore-John is a seasoned Barrister with over 30 years of experience in Intellectual Property law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Wolverhampton and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Northumbria, United Kingdom. A member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, she was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2005, and to the Bar of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in Saint Lucia later that year.
As a Partner and Head of Intellectual Property at Nicholas John & Co., a law firm she co-founded in 1993, Mrs. Theodore-John has built a distinguished career. In addition to her expertise in Intellectual Property, her practice spans Civil Litigation, Corporate and Commercial Law, Succession Law, Trust & Estate Planning, and Offshore Financial Services. She also holds a Certificate in Offshore Financial Services from Jesus College, Oxford University. Beyond her legal career, Mrs. Theodore-John has a long-standing commitment to public service and politics in Saint Lucia, with over 40 years of involvement. Her political and public roles include serving as President of the Senate (2010–2012), Speaker of the House of Assembly (2016–2018), and Chair of the Constituencies Boundaries Commission. She also held diplomatic positions at the High Commission for Saint Lucia in London, including Minister Counsellor and Chargé d'Affaires from 2018 to 2022.
A passionate advocate for gender equality in politics, Mrs. Theodore-John presented a paper titled "Transforming Parliament for a Better Future" at the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Global Summit of Women Speakers in Abu Dhabi in 2017, addressing the need for gender parity in political representation.
In her personal life, Mrs. Theodore-John is a devoted wife and mother. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and beekeeping, which reflect her love for nature and culinary arts.
