Dr. Madgerie Jameson-Charles , principal @SIR ARTHUR LEWIS COMMUNITY COLLEGE (salcc)

Dr. Madgerie Jameson-Charles is the Principal of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and has been an educator for over 44 years, with experience spanning Saint Lucia, New Zealand, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Jameson-Charles holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The University of the West Indies, a Master of Education in Education for Employment from the University of Sheffield (UK), and a PhD in Education, specializing in Learning and Instruction in Higher Education from the University of Otago (New Zealand). She is also a Certified Hospitality Department Trainer from Education International (American Hotel and Lodging) and has completed the Certificate in TVET Leadership from UNEVOC, Bonn, Germany. In addition, she is a trained counselor, with specialized training in psychodrama, play therapy, critical incidents, and mediation.

Her dedication to youth development is reflected in her extensive work across Grenada, Anguilla, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Belize. Dr. Jameson-Charles has been instrumental in creating initiatives that foster positive youth development. Notably, she played a key role in developing capacity-building modules for TVET instructors and leaders in Belize, funded by the EU. She served as the lead consultant in designing the modules for the Certificate in Leadership and Management of TVET Institutions and the Diploma in Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) for TVET educators.

Dr. Jameson-Charles is a member of the American Psychological Association and actively participates in its International Psychology Division, where she reviews articles for the journal International Perspectives in Psychology. Her research interests include teacher education and professional development, high-stakes testing, youth empowerment and development, education for employment, transition-making, organizational development, and learning and instruction in higher education.
