JIM JOSEPH, Managing Director of Map And IT Solutions Ltd

Jim Joseph is the Managing Director of Map & IT Solutions Ltd, a technology firm based in Saint Lucia. With over 40 years of experience in the IT field, Jim has made significant contributions both in the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Computer Programmer/Analyst for the Government of Saint Lucia for 11 years before transitioning to private practice. As an Information Systems Management Consultant, Jim has provided his expertise to numerous regional and international organizations. He has played a key role in the development and implementation of national information systems for governments across the Caribbean. In addition to his work as a consultant, Jim is also a skilled computer programmer and application developer.

Over the last four years, Jim has expanded his expertise into the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), where he has emerged as an advocate, educator, and implementer of AI solutions. He has developed a wide range of AI applications, demonstrating their practical and safe uses for both business and personal applications. As a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consultant, Jim's interest in AI complements his work in technology-driven solutions.

Jim has pursued several professional qualifications in AI, including Programming in Deep Learning through Harvard University (Online), and successfully completed the 2023 AI Challenge with Microsoft. He has also completed various courses in Data Science and Machine Learning.

Jim is frequently invited to share his insights on AI in the media, appearing on programs such as Choice TV's SoLucians and DBS Newsmaker Live, where he has spoken about Saint Lucia's readiness for AI, even conducting a SWOT analysis on the subject. Additionally, he has led numerous workshops and training sessions for both private and public sector organizations. As a keynote speaker, Jim has addressed a variety of high-profile events, including the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association's Annual Retreat, the Saint Lucia National Principals Association Annual Retreat, and the Ministry of Commerce’s World Consumer Rights Day, among others.

In addition to his professional achievements, Jim is deeply committed to community service. He is the President of the Beausejour Community Group, a position he has held for several years, and was recently appointed to a second term as a Council Member of the Gros Islet Constituency Council. Jim’s passion for volunteerism extends beyond his professional life, as he dedicates his free time to mentoring young people, teaching them cycling and skateboarding, and volunteering in schools throughout Saint Lucia.
