Winston F. Phulgence, PHD, VP Academic Affairs & Head Social Sciences & the Knowledge Society, SALCC
Winston F. Phulgence is a Historical Anthropologist specializing in the history and culture of Saint Lucia and the broader Anglophone Caribbean. He holds a BA in History from the University of the West Indies and an MA in Anthropology from the University of Florida, where he was a Fulbright scholar focusing on Caribbean Prehistory and Heritage Management. Dr. Phulgence later earned a PhD in Archaeology from the University of York in the United Kingdom, where he was a Marie Curie research fellow.
His research explores the commemoration of slavery, its legacies, and the development and management of cultural heritage across the contemporary Caribbean. Dr. Phulgence has published numerous journal articles and book chapters on history, cultural heritage, and heritage management. He is currently the Vice Principal for Academics at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Saint Lucia.
